Corfu Holiday Homes

By renting a holiday cottage in Corfu you have more chance of discover what this beautiful in the Ionian Sea really has to offer. As well as being the second largest of all the Greek Islands, it is one that is covered in large amounts of greenery.

The main reason this island is so green is because of the 3 million olive trees that grow there and the oil that comes from the fruit is exported around the world. Yet tourism is also extremely important to this island and people flock from around the globe to spend time relaxing on its beaches. However, if you do want some excitement in your holiday, as well this Island offers plenty for one to do and in some of the bigger towns has great nightlife as well.

However, as you spend time touring the island you will discover because there is so many beaches actually one that suits your particular requirements is not going to be difficult. Below we take a look at some of the beaches that this island has to offer that will suit all kinds of visitors.

1. Arillas Beach - You can easily find this beach and will be astounded by its beauty when you reach it. Because this beach lies within a natural rock, formation carved from the sea it is well protected against the winds that comes in to it.

2. Agios Gordis Beach - This one is to be found just 35 minutes from Corfu town and is one of the longest on the island. But be warned this beach is a favorite with many visitors to the island and has become what commercialized. As you will discover there are plenty of places located close to it, where you can either stay or just sit and have a drink or eat some of the local delicacies. Actually getting from Corfu town to the beach is quite easy as there is a regular bus service.

3. Barbati Beach - This one is located close to the town of Nissaki, which is 21km (13 miles) from the capital of Corfu. Because this is, a blue flag beach you will know that it is well maintained (kept clean) and the water is very clean as well. Also for those who want to avoid getting too much sun at this beach you have the chance to be able to hire umbrellas and sun beds.

4. Gialiskari Beach - This is one of the few beaches on the island where tourism has not taken it over as yet. In fact, this one is still quite secluded so if you are looking for a place to relax and unwind this beach is ideal. Yet there are places dotted along it where you can get food and drink if you need it.

Along with the beaches, we have mentioned above there are plenty of other ones to consider visiting. So after settling into your holiday cottage in Corfu you should take some time to study a few maps and look at what beaches you can visit which are close to where you are staying.
