Get Eloped at a Bed and Breakfast and Leave the Hassles Behind

By: Jane Leisteiner

Given all that is involved in planning a large formal wedding, it's no wonder many people are choosing to elope. If you want to find a romantic and intimate setting, but not break the bank on expense, consider a bed and breakfast inn in your area. Not only are there some great options available, but the ready-made elopement packages can take a lot of the stress out of the equation.

The Westbrook Inn B&B, located in Westbrook, Conn., specializes in elopements. The inn's Gold Package includes accommodations in a private cottage or Victorian guest room and a ceremony performed anywhere on the bed and breakfast inn's grounds or inside, if the bride and groom request something more formal. The package includes a Justice of the Peace, photos of the ceremony, a champagne toast; a wedding cake for two, a fresh flower arrangement and a full breakfast each morning at the inn.

Some Innkeepers Can Even Take Care of the Photography

In Stanley, Va., innkeeper Sally Dixon, an accomplished amateur photographer will provide high quality, high-res photos with each of their elopement packages. The White Fence B&B offers three different packages. They specialize in ceremonies for couples, private two-person occasions without any guests.

Stay at a Manor

In Richmond, Tex., at The Great Oaks Manor, packages include wedding music, a non-denominational minister, cake for four, floral arrangements, toasting glasses to keep, and a variety of locations for the event. Try the verandah, grand hall with staircase or the garden. Don't forget the honeymoon suite and breakfast for two the next morning, all part of the package.

Wine Country Wedding

The Hope-Merrill House in the beautiful Sonoma Wine Country in Geyersville, California also provides special $2,700 elopement package for the bride and groom. Ceremonies can be held on the grounds of the inn, or by the fireplace or in an elegant parlor. The package includes two nights in the Peacock Room with a Jacuzzi for two and fireplace, non-denominational minister, bridal bouquet and boutonniere, small wedding cake, a bottle of champagne with light hors d'oeuvres, photos taken by the innkeeper, a dinner for two, and four gourmet breakfasts.
