Jasper National Park Offers Amazing Views and Wildlife Sightings
By Liddie Anon

Jasper National Park in Alberta Canada is an awesome place for a relaxing family vacation. There are many places for camping either in tents, RVs, unique cabins, or if you prefer, luxury hotels in the city of Jasper. Wildlife is abundant in the park, including black bear, elk, moose, big horn sheep, mule, white tail deer, mountain goat, mountain lions, caribou, wolves, and wolverines, and the occasional Grizzly Bear sighting. Imagine driving down the highway and finding a herd of animals blocking the road, that’s what you will find at Jasper National Park. Beware of the animals as they are wild animals and not safe. Stay in your car!

Tip: Keep your camera with you at all times! The scenery is gorgeous with all the wildflowers, mountains, rivers and lakeshores and wildlife. Beware of the animals as they are wild animals and not safe. Stay in your car!

Take the time to explore the park, drive around, and don't miss the Icefields Parkway, Columbia Icefield, the Cavell and Maligne Roads, Pyramid Lake, and the "Old Banff / Jasper Highway". Nearby you will find Maligne Lake, the Columbia Icefields, Lake Louise, Banff, Yoho, Kootenay and the Kananaskis area, which are all worth a visit. Breathtaking Maligne Lake is the longest glacial fed lake, and the longest natural lake in the Canadian Rockies.

The Jasper Tramway is just 10 minute drive from the city of Jasper and is gives one of the magnificent views of the area! From 7400 feet above sea level atop Whistler’s Mountain you will see lakes, mountains, glaciers, and the town itself. The sky ride to the top of the mountain is amazing and takes about 7 minutes. There is a restaurant and gift shop available at the summit.

Some of the exciting activities to enjoy while visiting in the Jasper National Park include, Dogsledding, Snowmobiling, Airplane Sightseeing, Heli-Snowshoeing, canoeing, nature walks, Helicopter Sightseeing, Rail Tours, Cat-Skiing, Wildlife Safaris, as well as whitewater rafting, horseback riding, and guided hiking tours.

Be sure to visit the beautiful Miette Hot Springs where you can enjoy a relaxing soak in the hottest springs in the Canadian Rockies.

Visiting Mount Edith Cavell is an absolute must see, with her snowcapped peak towering a mile overhead. Here you will Experience three kinds of glacier formations, icebergs, waterfalls and the emerald green of "Lake of Forgiveness".

Ride the rails over the Yellowhead Pass, following the Fraser River, and past Mount Robson, the highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies, with thrilling stops for wildlife, near Mt. Robson. Depending on the time of year, this can be an excellent chance for seeing bear, moose, eagles, salmon, deer, elk and coyotes.

If your travel budget permits, I suggest taking some of the guided tours offered, such as, Miette Hot Springs/Watchable Wildlife Tour, Ride the Steel Rails, Maligne Valley/Watchable Wildlife Tour, Pyramid Lake Canoe Experience, Mount Edith Cavell, and Birding and Beaver Nature Walk.
