Try a Bed and Breakfast On Your Next Business Trip

By: Jane Leisteiner

If you're beginning to feel like a tired road warrior from all those business trips, you need to get out of the rut. Dump that stale hotel room and search for a little more relaxation and travel experience -- try a bed and breakfast instead.

Not only will you avoid the anonymous rooms, noisy hallways, and pricey industrial continental breakfasts but you will actually feel you have had a pleasant little getaway that will spark your creative energy.

One of the best sources I use for bed and breakfast information is iLoveInns.com. Here are a few ideas for your next business trip.

Louisville: Inn at Woodhaven - The 1853 Inn at Woodhaven is a Gothic Revival farmhouse and the exterior is painted bright yellow. The inside features outstanding carved woodwork, crisscross window designs, winding staircases, decorative mantels and hardwood floors. The rooms are appropriately decorated with antiques, while the 12-foot, nine-inch tall ceiling provides more than ample headroom in the Attic Suite! Businesspeople enjoy the Wi-Fi Internet access, free coffee and tea station and other amenities and there are corporate rates.

Cincinnati: Weller Haus B&B - The bed and breakfast is made up of two homes built in the 1880s and restored to original beauty. They also have added amenities such as whirlpool bathtubs and fireplaces in your guest rooms. The B&B offers high-speed wireless internet access, fax services, a range of office supplies and a flexible breakfast time. Also consider the 24/7 security access to the inn. The property is in the Taylor Daughter's Historic District.

Sacramento: Amber House B&B - Within close proximity to the capitol, this California bed and breakfast consists of two 1905 homes. Your rooms contain Italian marble in the bathrooms and whirlpool bathtubs to go with a fireplace. Take the breakfast in your guestroom. Each of the guestrooms also contains an excellent workspace and you have access to a variety of business services. Consider using the inn's dining room for your next client meeting.

If you are looking to save a little extra on your business travel, some of the inns featured above also participate in the Free-Night-Stay program. Purchase the first night at the regular rates and get the second night free. Gift certificates are also available for many of the bed and breakfasts.
