When you're looking for a beautiful place to visit, one of the places you really should consider is Berwick upon Tweed. There's so much to do there, and anyone who likes the countryside and the beauty of nature can enjoy it, no matter what their age or ability level. Located in Northumberland, the town offers a lot of things that you'll want to see, including:
• Berwick Barracks, built around 1720
• The defensive wall (ramparts) around the centre of town
• The Old Bridge, which is a sandstone arch bridge built around 1615
• The Royal Border Bridge, built in 1847
• The Royal Tweed Bridge, built in 1925
• The Union Bridge, the world's oldest surviving suspension bridge
• The Guildhall, built in 1750 and formerly housing the prison
• Berwich Parish Church, built during the Commonwealth of Oliver Cromwell
• Dewars Lane, once painted by L. S. Lowry.
A lot of famous people were also either born in Berwick upon Tweed or lived there for a period of time, so there are other places that are valuable for what they offer to more recent history. Of course, Berwick upon Tweed isn't all bridges and churches and old structures. There are also modern and updated things to do, as well as lovely places to stay.
There are boutique hotels in Berwick upon Tweed and there are also many bed and breakfast establishments to stay at. If you're looking for accommodations that cost a bit less, you can choose a self catering cottage, as there are many of them available, as well. Arts and culture are important to Berwick upon Tweed, too, and you'll find theatres, galleries, and wonderful activities to get involved with. Whether you're just visiting for a few days or staying much longer, you won't run out of things to do. It's an easy destination to get to, and both children and older people can find something that they love about the charm of the walled city.
Nature is bountiful there, and you can walk through fields that offer breathtaking views of the countryside and the older homes and buildings that are still standing after so much time has passed. If you're planning on coming to Berwick upon Tweed during a popular time of year, though, you might want to book in advance. If you don't, you might not be able to get the kind of accommodations that you're looking for, or at least not for a price that you're comfortable with. Booking early means better rates and nicer places to stay,
